The Cave
Spring Semester 2024 || 4 Sem. || Lighting Design || Prof. Adrian von Starck
Students: Rreze Vranica, Ghezim Xhafiraj
In this course, students learn about the physical, physiological, and psychological basics of natural and artificial lighting. In the context of a design exercise, these topics are approached conceptually and implemented technically. Atmospheric visualizations show the intentions and effects of the developed concepts.
The apartment mimics a cave with organic, earthy walls and an open-plan design for a clean, minimalistic space. Its simplicity is brought to life by strategic lighting with linear lights highlighting the curves and creating dynamic pathways. This interplay of light and shadow enhances the natural, sculptural beauty of the interior.
The site is a fictitious 100m² apartment in a city of the students’ choice – in this case, Barcelona.
