POP-UP STORE FOR URBAN BASIL & FISH FARM
SS 2020 || 4. Sem. || Sustainable Design || Dipl. Des. Meike Langer
Sustainability has become an essential part of the design process and therefore designers need to have sound knowledge in sustainable design. This does not only involve the selection of biodegradable or renewable materials but also taking into consideration the production process and application of the materials, as well as assessing the social, economical and environmental implications of the design.
Sustainability is a key value for the urban farming corporation ECF Farmsystems, based in Berlin. They produce local food products using innovative and sustainable farming methods. ECF’s aquaponic system enables an urban and symbiotic production of fish and vegetables, resulting in an economic and resource-saving cultivation method.
For this project students are asked to design a mobile pop-up stand for the display and sale of basil and fish from ECF-Farms. The overall design of the stand and the choice of materials reflect the company values and showcase their quality products in an appealing way.
