The Future of Care
FS 2020/21 || 4. Sem. || GD PD Project 1 || Prof. Jan Hillmann-Regett, Prof. Jakob Lehr, Christopher Graf, Luca Bogoni
Unless you are dead inside, you care. For your phone, a cat, for your parents or children, for a fair and sane world. Caring is deeply human. How will newer generations care? During the third corona semester, 4th semester students dared to develop visions of caring for someone or something. A time span between 2040 and 2060 served as a significantly distant but not entirely random future setting.
Notably, very early transdisciplinary teamwork defines the second year at Berlin International's Product Design and Graphic Design programs. Coming from individual design projects, it is a new experience for many students, even when only remote learning and making are feasible. Over fourteen weeks, the teams went through a well-defined process of evidence-based speculation. A balanced package of physical products, service components, app ideas, visual identities, designed experiences lets every concept emerge as one tangible future – be it based on fears or hopes. In this publication, the students proudly showcase fantastic projects from all eight wildly international student groups. We hope they invite you to reflect on the future world you desire.
