Down the Rabbit Hole
Spring Semester 2024 || 4 Sem. || Lighting Design || Prof. Adrian von Starck
Students: Carsten Spielmann, Leonie Todd
In this course, students learn about the physical, physiological, and psychological basics of natural and artificial lighting. In the context of a design exercise, these topics are approached conceptually and implemented technically. Atmospheric visualizations show the intentions and effects of the developed concepts.
Carsten Spielmann and Leonie Todd develop a dream-like apartment in Vancouver, Canada. The surrealist interior is inspired by fairy tales and children’s books. Different functional zones have their own story to tell and lead inhabitants and visitors through different worlds. The combination of spatial elements, materials and colors is brought to life by subtle and artful lighting design.
The site is a ficticious 100m2-apartment in a city of the students’ choice - in this case, Vancouver.
