English Preparatory Year
The English Preparatory School is designed to help students study in English. This intensive year-long language program wants to cover CEFR levels A2 to B2 and helps to improve reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar. In addition, necessary academic skills such as presenting and taking notes are covered during the year.
Due to the small setting (up to 8 students), students can work closely with the teacher to determine the specific areas where they need help. Students are thus taught the skills necessary to enable them to learn independently, so they can continue to improve their English. The program runs from October until July. Only upon successful completion of the preparatory year will students be at a B2 level of English and able to begin their studies here at Berlin International.
The tuition fee for the Preparatory Year is 4,190 EUR per semester, a non-refundable 250 EUR registration fee (EU nationals) or 600 EUR (for non-EU nationals), and approx. 200 EUR per semester for the public transportation ticket.
There are five midterm exams and a final exam in this course. A portfolio study is also a big part of the course. The portfolio will include; vocabulary check quizzes, speaking tasks, timed writings and participation.
Your final grade for the year will be based on the course work assigned but more importantly, the quality of your work (i.e. the thoughtfulness, depth, and seriousness of your approach), the completeness and promptness of your work, class participation, regular and prompt attendance and your own growth and development as a language learner
