Prof. Katharina Lemke
Graphic Design and Visual Communication
Katharina Lemke studied Communication Design at the Folkwang University of the Arts and graduated in 1998. At MetaDesign, Germany’s largest branding agency, she subsequently created award-winning design work for internationally renowned clients such as Volkswagen, Siemens, and Kärcher. She currently continues to build her expertise and nurture her enthusiasm for strategic design within her own agency brands & books – serving predominantly cultural and educational clients.
Since 2009, Katharina has been teaching design basics, communication design, and corporate identity at various German universities. In fall 2023, she was appointed Professor of Graphic Design/Visual Communication at Berlin International.
Katharina’s undergraduate degree in Islamic Studies and her extensive global travels have shaped her intercultural view of the world and of design: “At Berlin International, I enjoy learning from and working with students from all over the world. I love sharing my passion for design, its wide-ranging scope, and the theory and practice of brand communication. Together, we delve into a variety of questions: How can we uncover the strategic and aesthetic potential of design and consciously employ it? How can we, with our wealth of international backgrounds, approach design challenges from a different angle? Through these explorations, we may create innovative solutions that contribute to shaping our future in a responsible and sustainable way.
