Mari Paz Agúndez Lería, M.A.
Interior Architecture/Interior Design
Mari Paz Agúndez was born in Madrid where she studied Architecture at ETSAM. She also spent her study-abroad year at Technische Universität Berlin with an Erasmus scholarship. She has worked at several international Berlin-based studios, including Sauerbruch Hutton, Nieto Sobejano, Herzog & deMeuron, and Gerkan Marg und Partner where she currently works. After her time at Herzog & deMeuron, Mari Paz decided to rekindle her academic career and began her Ph.D. at TU Berlin's Habitat Unit department which she has been pursuing alongside her professional career. Her research focuses on borders and how they shape the urban development. Her case study is the Spanish city of Ceuta which is located on the African continent but functions as a part of the European border. She investigates not only the border but also its byproducts such as constructed facilities, migration, and a segregated society.
