Launching: BI Workshop Week 2023
This Spring Semester of 2023, we are delighted to introduce the newly established Workshop Week. Between the 27th and 31st of March, teaching pauses, and students will have the chance to volunteer for a practical week of hands-on learning experience. Several varied workshops are available, ranging from healthy eating to model-making. Read on for a list of the workshops students can choose from and a brief description of what will be done during the week. Workshops will generally take place on campus.
AEDES Workshop
Taking place throughout the week at the Aedes Metropolitan Lab, the workshop will end with an exhibition that will stay open until the 14th of April. The BI Community is welcome to the exhibition opening at 5 pm, Christinenstraße 18-19, 10119 Berlin.
Freehand Sketching
Students will learn basic skills in freehand sketching and develop a small portfolio of their own works based on the exercises done in the course. Introduction to Model-Making This workshop introduces the different applications, scales, materials, and model-making techniques.
Self-Organization
The basics of self-organization, personal development, time management, attention management, thinking tools, and note-making will be presented and used.
Presentation Skills
Students will focus on the preparation, contents, appropriate body language, and compelling interplay with the audience of successful presentations.
Photography
The workshop takes beginner photographers through all the basics of photography to develop and improve skills and knowledge.
Guest Presentation: Managing Data — Legal Risks and Opportunities
A Unique offering of the workshop week; Pablo Ardila-Schickler, legal expert of Shure Inc. (a global corporation that manufactures high-end microphones and tech devices), will walk students through the world of managing data and intellectual protection. Look into the daily issues of handling data in a complex world, both from a business and a legal perspective. Relevant for all students, regardless of the professional sector.
Modeling for 3D Printing
This workshop will cover critical considerations for file preparation and modeling vital to materializing high-quality 3D prints.
Healthy Eating 101: An overview of Nutrition fundamentals
By attending this half-day workshop, students may understand the basics of nutrition and how adopting healthy eating habits can improve their overall health and well-being. (Although the workshop will discuss this topic, it is not about weight loss, but about living healthy.)
(Interior) Architecture Portfolio Workshop
The workshop will cover basic information about structuring and creating an architecture portfolio. Input about the topic will be given in a lecture format, followed by a feedback session on the students' portfolios. Students will carry out a follow-up session with reviewed portfolios.
