Students presenting concepts at ATCM
MA Interior Architecture/Interior Design students from Berlin International were supporting the Federal Foreign Office (FFO) in designing space ideas for the 44th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting 2022 (ATCM), which took place in Berlin from May 23 to June 2, 2022.
As part of this successful collaboration, a specific design assignment was integrated into the course "Design Project 1", which is part of the regular curriculum of the MA Interior Architecture/Interior Design program at the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences (BI).
During ATCM 2022, delegations from several countries and organizations gathered in Berlin to discuss and decide on the future of Antarctica. As Germany hosted this year's ATCM at the Estrel Conference Center in Berlin, Interior architecture students were asked to design the functional, spatial and visual layout of the conference.
Hence, the task for the students was to develop an interior concept and design for the venue, the annual Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) took place in. Being supported by their thorough research, the students strived to understand and address the specifics and complexity of the theme from an interior design perspective.
While the ATCM conference was held at the Estrel Conference Center, interior design students had the opportunity to exhibit and present their design concepts on May 26 for a comprehensive exchange.
The BI students had a great time at ATCM, and the Foreign Office officials were impressed by our students' designs. Some of the MA Interior Design students were even able to make valuable business contacts!
Hereby, we as Berlin International want to thank the Federal Foreign Office for this great opportunity!
