Inauguration ceremony of the new BI President
Prof. Yüksel Pögün-Zander, Ph.D. elected new President of the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences. Prof. Pögün-Zander will guide the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences towards further growth by emphasizing excellence in education, promoting impactful research and facilitating even greater collaboration with national and international partners in industry and academia. The new president has set three top priorities for her first tenure, she wants to create a community with strong bonds, increase the visibility of Berlin International, and last but not least, strengthen quality management within the institution.
„I am delighted and very much look forward to serving as the new President of the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences. My goal is to strengthen BI’s profile as a hub attracting outstanding minds from around the globe. By doing so, BI will deepen its collaboration with the industry and will act as a catalyst between graduates and corporate partners. I would like to thank the Academic Senate, the University Advisory Board, and BAU Global, the Shareholder Company for their confidence in me. And most of all, I would like to emphasize that the teamwork and motivation of all academic and administrative staff at BI is vital for building a strong community since every single individual is valuable in this institution“, Prof. Pögün-Zander stated on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony this week, where she was officially installed as University President.
Internationality, Interculturality, and Interdisciplinarity as main pillars BI programs are designed to stimulate and develop students’ intellectual curiosity, creativity, and professional skills. The new president encourages the students to adopt an interdisciplinary approach that enables them to cope with innovation and to solve problems of modern societies. Prof. Pöngün-Zander wants also to promote cross-national and cross-cultural understanding. Then, tolerance, mutual understanding, and respect are indispensable to build a better, more humane world. The new President’s program is therefore true to Berlin International’s motto to promote: Internationality, Interculturality, and Interdisciplinarity.
