Typographically inspired: A tour at the Art Library
Within the course Typography and Layout, students of the first semester Graphic Design and Visual Communication visited the Berlin-based Kunstbibliothek (art library) for a seminar at the exhibition Hansjörg Mayer Typoems and Artist Books. The large variety of crisp, carefully printed typographic artworks served as a rich source of inspiration for the ongoing coursework in Typography and Layout.
Dr. Michael Lailach, curator of the show and Head of the Collection of Book Art and Media Art as well as the archive of the Marzona Collection, personally guided through the exhibition. While he contextualized extensive serial artworks, explained stories behind artist books and gave insights to concrete poetry from Stuttgart to São Paolo, the exhibits seemed to gain even more depth and brilliance.
A big Thank you to the Kunstbibliothek for first-hand information and the unique impressions!
