Field Trip to the Architecture Biennale 2023
It is with great enthusiasm that we share the remarkable experience of Berlin International University of Applied Sciences' annual field trip to the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale. This extraordinary event serves as a vital component of our academic calendar and is a testament to our commitment to providing our students with immersive, real-world learning experiences.
The Venice Architecture Biennale, known for its captivating exhibitions and cutting-edge architectural concepts, beckons architecture and design enthusiasts from around the world. This year's theme, "The Laboratory of the Future," explores the innovative and transformative possibilities that architecture holds in shaping our world.
Organized by Prof. Karsten Huneck, Head of the BA in Architecture, and Prof. Katrin Brünjes, Head of the BA in Interior Architecture/Interior Design, this field trip brought together a diverse group of students. A total of 35 students from Berlin International University, joined by peers from FH Coburg, FH Dortmund, and FH Mannheim, embarked on this exciting journey to Venice.
The collaboration between these four universities created an intellectually stimulating environment for our students. In addition to exploring the vibrant city of Venice, students had the opportunity to engage with the Biennale Exhibition, attend enlightening workshops, and connect with experts in the field. Remarkable as well is the unwavering support of Prof. Jeanne Francoise Fischer and Prof. Dr. Giorgia Aquilar, both professors of the Faculty of Architecture and Design.
A highlight of our participation in the Biennale was the privilege of presenting our students' work at the Arsenale, one of the official venues of the Biennale di Venezia. This platform allowed our students to showcase their innovative ideas and creativity on an international stage.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Biennale di Venezia for inviting us to be part of the Biennale Sessions, IUAV (University of Venezia) for providing us with a place to call home in the historic Palazzo Ca'Tron, and Johannes Marburg, a renowned architectural photographer in Europe, for leading an inspiring photography workshop that further enriched our students' experience.
The Berlin International University of Applied Sciences is proud to have contributed to the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale with the REFRAME - COMPOSE Photography Workshop titled "ICH SEHE WAS, WAS DU NICHT SIEHST". Led by the talented Johannes Marburg, this workshop allowed our students to explore new perspectives and capture the essence of the Biennale through the lens of a camera. It is through such initiatives that we encourage our students to push the boundaries of their creativity and expand their horizons. Click here to see some workshop results from the students.
We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to our students for their active participation and enthusiasm throughout the trip. Your dedication and passion are what make our educational programs truly exceptional.
In conclusion, the field trip to the Architecture Biennale 2023 was a resounding success, offering our students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of architecture, engage with cutting-edge concepts, and connect with professionals in the field.
Berlin International University of Applied Sciences remains committed to providing an exceptional education that goes beyond the classroom, allowing our students to explore the world and experience their chosen field firsthand. We look forward to many more such enriching experiences in the future.
