Double studio visit for graphic design students
On their first day back at school after the winter break, two parallel excursions for the first semester design students took place. While one group had the opportunity to visit p98a, the experimental letterpress workshop of type designer legend Erik Spiekermann. The other group visited Studio Gretzinger, a transdisciplinary studio for design founded by Katja Gretzinger.

During the two hour tour, the students had the opportunity to see, smell and touch the basic elements of typography and print and eventually even pull their own print of one of the studio’s iconic posters: God is in the details! (Sic)
Studio Gretzinger
In a two-hour long studio visit, the students got insight into Katja Gretzinger’s creative process, had the chance to explore some of her latest work, and discussed a variety of topics. From the challenges of running an independent design studio, collaborating with artists, and overcoming bias in the design process, to the specifics of printing and producing art books.
The studio is located in a quiet Hinterhof on Potsdamer Straße and features a big collection of types
p98a also produces commissioned works, books and sometimes special newspapers.
