Hrvoje Rubesa about Data Science & Business
Our BA Data Science & Business student Hrvoje is talking about studying at Berlin International and the impact it has had on his life so far!
Data is the new oil in business and revolutionizes societies by bringing people closer together. Successful management in the digital age requires two skills: championing data science and business analytics in combination with management with a global perspective. This is precisely what Berlin International offers you with the BA program in Data Science & Business. The program brings together human and artificial intelligence while using progressive teaching concepts.
“My name is Hrvoje Rubesa and I am a third-semester Data Science & Business (previously Digital Business & Management) student. I am 29 and I am originally from Split, Croatia. I’m studying Data Science & Business because I think data science and business analytics in combination with management are two trends that will continue to dominate business and management in the future. So I wanted to study Data Science without a commitment to engineering or deep diving into too much programming. I also wanted to study in Berlin which is an international hub for startups and technology in Germany.
Having grown up on a small island in Croatia, it was very important to me to complete my studies in a culturally rich and diverse setting. Studying in an international environment has opened my eyes even more to the different ways businesses operate around the world. Plus, the curricula at BI have helped broaden my perspective and I have built connections that I otherwise never would have. I also learned a bit of German and enjoyed some of the best art and culture in Europe.
During my semester I discovered classmates living right in my neighbourhood, people that are in my same program and this has made it very easy to meet up to study for exams, celebrate a birthday, explore the city together or share a homecooked meal.
I plan to pursue a career related to digital business in a major international city. So at this point, titles and responsibilities are not so important to me but instead, BI is helping me prepare to work in a variety of meaningful roles, from technology to finance.
My advice to the future students at BI is to take a chance and not miss the opportunity to study in a multicultural environment at a university that will help you chart the path towards your future self. I would describe BI as multicultural, practical and modern. In three words, I would describe my program as hands-on, global and innovative. I would describe Berlin as easygoing, cultural and historical.”
