DAAD scholarships for international students
Financed by the STIBET-Programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the international office of Berlin International University of Applied Sciences offers DAAD Stibet I scholarships.
What is the “Stibet” scholarship?
The Stibet Scholarship stands for “Stipendium und Betreuungsprogramm” and is meant to support international students in Germany to ensure the success of their studies. The funding is provided by the Federal Foreign Office and through DAAD to Berlin International.
What does the scholarship include?
The scholarship is meant to co-finance living expenses in Germany and is paid for a duration of six months. A partial scholarship of at least €250 per month is awarded. At the beginning of the spring semester, Berlin International sends a call for applications to students.
Who can apply?
Only international students (those who have come for their studies from outside of Germany) at Berlin International who have finished their first year of studies and have shown excellent academic results (overall average grade of at least 2.5) are eligible to apply. Study applicants (applicants for a study place at Berlin International) who are not yet enrolled at the time of the scholarship application cannot be supported with these scholarships.
What documents do I need?
- Application form for a STIBET scholarship
- Certificate of enrollment for the funding period
- Transcript issued by the examination office
- Confirmation of the examination office stating the achieved credits as well as the overall average grade
How are the scholarships awarded?
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of a ranking list. The ranking of the scholarship applicants is based on the average grade of the academic achievements.
DAAD Stibet I scholarship at Berlin International
Berlin International awarded its first DAAD Stibet scholarship in the Spring of 2021, to BA Interior Architecture/Interior Design program student Rasa Vereniute. In the Fall of 2022, Berlin International acquired additional funding through the DAAD Stibet program allowing for eight additional scholarships for students from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.
